The park is uniquely one of the few places in Kenya where visitors can go on a walking safari among the wildlife – mostly plains game, without official accompaniment. Guides protecting the park are nevertheless on hand for those who would rather have guided walks.
– A “walking safari” in the Crescent Island Game Park means getting close as close as can be to the wildlife. The plains game that visitors get to rub shoulders with include; giraffe, zebra, gazelle, waterbuck, wildebeest, and warthog. The hippo keeps a lies low in Lake Naivasha by day but grazes in the park at night. From Crescent Island/the shores of the lake, visitors get to see the large numbers of pelicans, fish-eagle, and cormorants – water birds drawn to Lake Naivasha which is widely known as one of the best birding locations in Kenya.
